In October, the next cohort of the Skills 2 SucSEED program will begin!
Skills 2 SucSEED is a pre-employability program for youth ages 15–21 who have a connection to OSD (Department of Community Services) or who may be at risk of becoming connected to OSD. The program is designed to support youth who may face barriers to employment and education, including youth who are in care or post-care, receiving Income Assistance (or dependents), living in public housing, or who are already connected to—or at risk of becoming connected to—DCS/OSD.
The program includes:
- 12 weeks of twice-weekly evening workshops, delivered completely online
- An 8-week subsidized work placement following the workshops
- Workshops focused on Digital Literacy, Wellness, and Employment Skills
- Payment for youth participation in the workshops
- A fun, accessible and supportive environment where youth can build practical life and employment skills
Youth will also be provided with a laptop to use throughout the program. Upon successfully completing all three phases of Skills 2 SucSEED, the laptop is theirs to keep.
Participants will also have access to the Blue Rabbit gamification platform, where they can complete educational quests, build skills, and earn real-world incentives along the way.
