BLAST 2025 Registration

Youth in care are invited to the BLAST event, to experience post-secondary life on campus and learn about career and educational opportunities as youth consider their futures. This year, BLAST will take place on May 28/29, 2025 at Mount St. Vincent University, 166 Bedford Highway, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3M 2J6.
The BLAST event is offered to youth in care between grades 10 – 12, as well as their support persons. The BLAST offers a series of activities and workshops to expose youth in care to post-secondary education, develop their interests and passions, cultivate an interest in their education and future careers, and support the development of a belief in their own potential and a positive vision for their future.
BLAST participants are invited to stay overnight in residence, eat in the meal hall, use recreational facilities, tour the campus and participate in relevant sessions. BLAST is an exciting opportunity to meet other youth, ask post-secondary students and instructors questions, and make positive connections. Chaperones attending BLAST will also have the opportunity to attend sessions that are designed to support and encourage youth in care who may consider pursuing post-secondary education.
To register, youth must have an identified chaperone, ideally their social worker. When social workers are unable to participate for the duration of the event, consideration may be given to alternate chaperones (i.e., caregivers or alternate support person). Having a support person allows the youth to share their enthusiasm, their impressions, and their thoughts with someone they trust and can help answer their questions. The registration deadline for BLAST is May 3rd, 2025. Please submit the registration forms as soon as possible, so we can incorporate youth interests and feedback into the scheduled and workshops offered. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
We are so excited for this year’s BLAST!
